ZILLAH — This year’s Central Washington Home Builders Association Tour of Homes featured two lower valley residences filled with modern custom detailing.

The public tour, which is over two weekends in September, featured 12 homes, from Zillah to West Valley, all designed by area architects.

In the Lower Yakima Valley, ease of accessibility is a large component of the single level Dineen family home on Gilbertson Road.

It showcases many modern amenities, including quartz counter tops, handmade bathroom tiles, French pinewood paneling — all creating a warm rustic look suitable for the owner of a popular area winery.

The work of valley designer Scot Gust, the single-family custom home also features cedar board and batt siding, which has been used to tie in all of the outbuilding at the winery, including the tasting room and the wine-making facility.

In the Wapato area, designer Justin Wolff has created a single-level residence in a green and net zero energy design.

His design for a three-bedroom home located on Shields Road is also American Disability Act compliant. Custom masonry and cabinetry is used throughout and it also boasts two fireplaces and an open concept kitchen/living area.
