Effective July 28, updates to the Washington State Equal Pay and Opportunities Act now prohibits employers from asking a candidate about their prior employment salary during the interview process.

The changes also require employers, with 15 or more employees, to share a salary range to prospective internal candidates interested in an internal job move.

If a wage or salary range is not available, the employer must show the minimum wage or salary expectation for the position.
