YAKIMA COUNTY — The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office has switched over to a digital radio system as of this past Monday, April 15.

The channels aren’t encrypted, and the public can still hear the communications with the purchase of a digital scanner or application on their smart phone.

The Sheriff’s office has been working on this for several years to improve radio reception for the office and the six contracted agencies that it dispatches for.
