PROSSER — The community is invited to “party like it’s 1998” and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Heartlinks Hospice Benefit Shop (HOBS) on Tuesday, Feb. 28, according to a release from Heartlinks.
The charity thrift shop located at 612 Fifth Street will be offering extended hours from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and all merchandise will be 25 percent off. A special “Double Your Discount” will also be available on certain items, and a mystery sale from 5 to 6 p.m.
HOBS in Prosser was founded in 1998 by Jan Nilsson in memory of her mother-in law, Anne O. Witcraft. “Nilsson was, and continues to be, a passionate advocate for hospice,” according to the release. A second HOBS thrift shop opened in Zillah in 2021. Both HOBS shops have ensured that quality hospice and palliative care can be provided to any patient and family, regardless of their financial circumstances.
All proceeds from the thrift shop benefit Heartlinks, the valley’s independent, nonprofit, and local hospice providing compassionate and comprehensive medical and emotional care for children, adults and their families who are facing life-altering or life-threatening illnesses. Heartlinks is headquartered in Grandview.
HOBS is strongly supported by generous donations from the community and the volunteers who process donations, price inventory, and work the cash register. Volunteer applications will be available at the HOBS 25th anniversary celebration.
HOBS accepts gently used, clean household items and clothing donations during normal business hours.
