SUNNYSIDE — Following a 20-minutes executive session Monday night, the council authorized the city manager to enter into an intent to lease 67-acres of the Monson Property to the MLS Company, for developer Allal Amrani.

The proposed development is in keeping with the commercial zoning of property, City Manager Martin Casey said Tuesday morning.

Once the intent to lease is signed, Casey is authorized to move forward with the lease agreement negotiations.

Amrani is seeking to develop a travel center and a truck stop, per documents provided to the council for consideration on the west end of the property on Yakima Valley Highway near the I-82 Interstate.
