KENNEWICK — Harrison Middle School students participated in this years Mid-Columbia Regional Science and Engineering Fair the took place last week with 21 students participating.
20 students from Harrison receive awards of distinction with 15 students receiving special interest awards and seven receiving fair awards.
Receiving awards of distinction were Karsyn Barker in the novelty category, Mackenna Chambers, Kaeleigh Esqueda and Edgard Soberanes in Honesty,Sienna Chambers and Carlos Ruiz-Martinez in Scientific Thought, Leo Cuellar and Kloey Ruelas in Creativity, Haeleigh Esqueda, Jay’Dan Madrigal and Elijah Villalbos in Engineering, Mario Maldonado, Juan Velador and Izayah Padilla in Clarity of Presentation, Brayden McCallum, Julian Nava, Victoria Navarro and Lionel Verduzco in Experimental Design, Asher Rice and Christopher Tellez-Avendano in Perseverance and Arianna Ruelas in Data Collection and Analysis
Receiving special awards were Madrigal receiving the IEEE award, Maldonado, Ruiz-Martinez, Soberanes, Lionel Verduzco, Villalbos and Padilla receiving the AISES-CRPC award, McCallum and Nava receiving the Inspiring Excellence award, Rice and Navarro receiving the Creativity award, Ruelas and Lionel Verduzco receiving the STEM Enthusiast award, Velador receiving the TC Astronomy award and Rice receiving the Thermo Fisher Award.
In Fair awards Karsyn Barker, Jay’Dan Madrigal, McCallum, Nava, Padilla and Tellez-Avendano took honorable mentions with Rice taking home first place.
