The science fair season has official begun for the students in the Sunnyside School District with the local fair last Saturday, Feb. 25.
This is the first year the science fair will take place in person since 2020, with around 70 projects being showcased from the students at the high school.
Some topics addressed in student projects look into the carbon dioxide production in yeast fermentation, the effects of different fruit supplement in plant growth and the effect of temperature on fingerprint visibility.
Science fair season will continue for the Sunnyside High School and Harrison Middle School students with both schools sending students to the Mid-Columbia Regional Science and Engineering Fair on March 9 through 11.
