The annual Great Washington Shakeout is Thursday, October 21.

It’s part of an international event that encourages preparation in the event of an earthquake.

The State Emergency Department says most of Washington is prone to earthquakes and that this helps practice how to be safer.

More than one million Washingtonians are expected to participate in some form or fashion in drills, preparation or making plans for recovery.
