Sunnyside Police officers along with Grandview Police, Yakima County Sheriff’s deputies and the State Patrol arrested a 47-year-old Sunnyside resident on multiple charges last week.

It started on the morning of August 31st when law enforcement says Jose Martinez Jr. injured a homeowner on Swan Road with a knife while committing a burglary.

The suspect was seen in a nearby canal trying to escape.

A K9 unit and drone were brought in to pinpoint Martinez’s location.

He was found in a tree line and placed into custody on charges of Trespassing 2nd degree, Assault 1st degree, Obstructing, and Resisting Arrest.

The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office says Martinez is well known to them and that this was an example of great teamwork.
