SUNNYSIDE — Facing charges of fourth-degree assault and trespassing, Uriel M. Morfin, 27, made his preliminary appearance in Yakima Superior Court on Monday, Aug. 26.

He was arrested Thursday, Aug. 22, by Sunnyside police following a report of a fight between Morfin and his girlfriend, which was reported by witnesses, who believed he was choking the victim.

Morfin was also found to have violated a no contact protection order, which ordered him to stay away from the victim.

In his efforts to avoid arrest, Morfin reportedly fled the scene and trespassed on a nearby residence after leading the police on a foot pursuit, according to court documents.
