WAPATO — Rigoberto Navarro-Guardado, 31, of Sunnyside, is being charged with felony hit and run and failure to yield after leaving the scene of an accident near Toppenish Thursday night, Aug. 27.

The citations were issued by the State Patrol, following a collision at State Route 97 and McDonald Road, north of Toppenish, according to a State Patrol report.

Navarro-Guardado was later apprehended.

The crash occurred when Navarro-Guardado failed to stop at the stop sign on East McDonald Road and struck a pick-up driven by Juan F. Estrada-Espinoza, 40, of Yakima who was headed south on State Route 97.

Injured in the crash was Maribel Estrada, 32, a passenger in Estrada-Espinoza vehicle. She was transported to Astria Toppenish Hospital.

Both vehicles were considered totaled.
