The Port of Sunnyside has finalized their purchase and sale agreement with Pacific Ag during their meeting on Friday, April 21.
This dealt with the property south of Sunnyside in the Port of Sunnyside Industrial Park.
Pacific Ag Renewables (PAR) is developing and will own and operate Sunnyside RNG, a project to turn agricultural waste products into renewable natural gas (RNG).
“We feel that it’s a really important project for the community, for the city, the county and the dairy industry here, which is so important,” said Bill Levy of Pacific Ag.
This is the first time that the Port of Sunnyside has partnered together with the City of Sunnyside on a project.
The City of Sunnyside passed the Pacific Ag – Interlocal Agreement with Port of Sunnyside for Financial Commitment during their November 25 meeting.
Entering into this agreement will not only help in the development of the land for this project but also open up the rest of the industrial park for other industries seeking to relocate according to the agreement.
Pacific Ag wants this project to help dairy farmers solve their waste management issues while also adding value to the community and opening up job opportunities.
Located on approximately 50 acres in Sunnyside, WA, Sunnyside RNG will produce approximately 900K MMBtus of RNG per year. Construction is currently scheduled to begin the 1st Quarter of 2023.
