SUNNYSIDE — Sunnyside United-Unidos wants to hear what you think or have to say about youth drinking and substance abuse.

All Sunnyside residents, 18 and older, are encouraged to attend a focus group next Tuesday at Pioneer Elementary, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

“We want to hear your opinions on youth marijuana, alcohol and prescription drug abuse,” coordinator

Cathy Kelly said. “Your input will help us serve Sunnyside better.”

As an incentive, participants will be entered into a drawing for two Yakima SunKings basketball game tickets for the next home game on Sunday, March 4.

Winners will be announced on Feb. 26. You may call 509-837-9629 for more details.

Groups will be conducted in English and Spanish, and childcare will be available.

Sunnyside United-Unidos was formed to combat the challenges Sunnyside teens face from their peers and others to join the substance sub-culture.

Among other projects, it supports the Sunnyside High School Prevention Club, which has about 25 members. It is always looking for new members.
