On February 26, 2023, Edelmira Suarez passed away at the age of 88 years old. She was a passionate caretaker, who raised nine kids and cared for numerous grandchildren. Edelmira was a selfless person, who always stood up for her family and made sure their needs were met. She was strong, outspoken, and empowered others to work hard and do good. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and brought everyone together. She was the life force of her family. Her presence will be greatly missed, and her memory will live forever. Edelmira was predeceased by her husband of 54 years Trinidad Suarez. She is survived by her 9 children: Miguel Suarez, Maria Ramos, Carmen Suarez, Francisco Suarez, Vitalina Suarez, Martha Suarez, Jesus Suarez, Maria Caudillo, and Alicia Suarez; 30 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday March 2, 2023, from 3 to 8 p.m. with recitation of Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday March 3, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
