Joan Carolyn (Davidson) Rouse, 84, passed away on September 9, 2022, in Walla Walla, Washington. She was born to Ralph and Dorothy (Foote) Davidson on January 22, 1938, in Madison, Tennessee. She had two older sisters and a twin sister.

Joan grew up in Madison, TN. She graduated high school at Little Creek Academy in 1956, and went right to Southern University, where she graduated from a 1-year secretary course in 1957. The last years of her life she lived in Sunnyside, WA for 27 years, moved to Plymouth, WA for four years, before moving to College Place, WA in 2021.

On June 3, 1957, Joan married the love of her life, Charles W. Rouse in Woodbury, TN. Together Joan and Charles had five children, three daughters, and two sons. She had different jobs over her life as a secretary, piano teacher, and even a bookkeeper. In 2000 she retired due to MS.

She loved music. She played the piano and the organ for many churches of all denominations; she played up until two years ago. She also loved to sing and play the trumpet. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Joan is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Charles Rouse; two daughters, Karen Margart and Kelli Steidle; two sons, Kevin Rouse and Ken Rouse; two sisters, Virginia Sellars and her twin, June Mathieson; ten grandchildren, Kristopher, Kendel, Amanda, Ashley, Matt, Michael, Nick, Hayden, Caprice, and Neal; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karla; her parents, Ralph and Dorothy; sister, Ann Petty; and granddaughter, Megan.

A memorial service will be held for Joan on October 16, 2022, at 11:00am at the College Place SDA church, 715 SE 12th St, College Place, WA with pastor Steve Walikonis officiating.
