SUNNYSIDE — The dance card of holiday events was brimming last weekend for the Sunnyside community. The Lighted Farm Implement Parade was the showstopper, but many new programs filling in the hours and meeting the whims of residents and visitors. For the patriotic, the scheduled 11 a.m. Pearl Harbor Day commemoration ceremony fell short due to American Legion member illness.

GRANDVIEW — Fresh evergreens, the symbol of honor and a living tribute, will be placed on the tombstones of American veterans Saturday, Dec. 14 at 9 a.m. at the Grandview Cemetery, 943 N. Elm St.

SUNNYSIDE — The chill of Veterans’ Day 2019 was abated for Korean Veteran Ed Prilucik Sr. as he was presented with a handmade Quilt of Valor during the morning ceremony at the Jerry Taylor Veterans Memorial Plaza.

I have never met a veteran who did not inspire me. From the hundreds of veterans who receive assistance from my office seeking lost medals or help with VA benefits to the veterans and their families I meet at community events and pinning ceremonies throughout Central Washington, each of them has a unique story.

PROSSER — LifePoint Church of Prosser will be honoring vets with a meal Saturday, Nov. 9, at 6:30 p.m. catered by Jade’s Bakery and Catering. A short ceremony recognizing local vets will be held.
