SUNNYSIDE — Heartlinks Hospice & Palliative Care appointed Shelby Moore as its new executive director following Ronald K. Jetter’s retirement on Friday, April 26.

In an assessment completed by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, Heartlinks Hospice & Palliative Care of Sunnyside ranks above the national average, and well above all other area providers.

At a Thursday morning breakfast, staff from Heartlinks Hospice and Palliative Care took the opportunity to share what has been accomplished by the non-profit the past 40 years, as well as share hopes for the future.

From the beginning the founders of the Yakima Valley’s first hospice care unit wanted to honor life and to help individuals in their end of life moments. Now renamed Heartlinks Hospice & Palliative Care, the agency formed in 1978, is expanded, but still holds true to that mission.

Yakima Regional Home Health, hospice nurses have claimed a major victory after a Yakima County Superior Court judge awarded damages of $2,895 million to home care nurses.
