WENATCHEE — The Sunnyside Grizzlies Girls’ basketball team outscored the Wenatchee Panthers during their game on Friday, Jan. 13. The Grizzlies won the game with a 40 point advantage at a score of 64-28.
The Grizzlies were able to score twelve points during the first quarter, twenty-one during the second, thirteen during the third and eighteen during the forth with Wenatchee scoring seven points during the first quarter, five during the second, six during the third and ten during the fourth quarter.
The Grizzlies were able to gain an early advantage during the first quarter leading at a score of 12-7 with a five point advantage. Sunnyside continued to grow their advantage with them finishing the first half of the game with a 21 point advantage at a score of 33-12.
Over the last half of the game the Grizzlies continued to grow their lead with the panthers unable to catch up with them only scoring 16 points during the second half.
Stats for the Grizzlies during this game are Baylee Maldonado with 20 points, eight rebounds, one assist and one steal, Aubrey Garza with 15 points, three rebounds and four steals, Lili Briones with eight points, one rebounds, six assists and two steals, Saraii Gonzalez with six points, four rebounds and one steal, Karizma Fuentes with four points, three rebounds and three steals, Jansyn Carrizales with four points, six rebounds, two assists and eleven steals, Maddy Humpherys with four points and five rebounds, Jenny Lopez with two points, three rebounds and three steals, Maddie Butler with one point and three rebounds and Abby Jimenez with one rebound.
The Grizzlies scored 24 out of 73 attempted field goals, 16 out of 48 attempted two-point shots, 8 out of 25 attempted Three-point shots and out of 15 attempted free throw shots.
The Sunnyside girls’ basketball has currently won five out of six conference game with them currently ranked in second place for the Columbia Basin Big-9 girls’ basketball conference, currently holding first place are the Davis Pirates.
The Grizzlies will be hosting their next home game on Jan. 21, they will be facing the West Valley Rams.
