The Sunnyside Christian volleyball team was swept by Mabton 22-25, 23-25, 19-25 in their first action of the season.

Knights coach Sharmi Pond says it might have been first game jitters but, “The girls are definitely capable of competing stronger.”

She says they were a little out of sorts on both offensive and defense early but started playing better by the third set.

Ella Alseth had 16 digs, while Taylor Andringa had 7 kills and Kelli Candanoza had 11 assists.

They played Riverside Christian Tuesday night, and now get ready to face Moses Lake Christian Thursday and Zillah next week.

They will also be taking part in a tournament in Yakima this weekend.
