Lady Leopards season ends

DOWNTOWN RANGE — Zillah High School Maddie Wallace knocks down a three point shot in the Regional tournament game at Davis High School.

YAKIMA — The No. 11 seeded Zillah High School Lady Leopards fourth quarter comeback ran out of time as they lost 71-67 to No. 6 Annie Wright Gators in their opening round game in 1A Hardwood Classic at the SunDome today.

After the first eight minutes, the Lady Leopards were ahead 18-13. The second quarter belonged to the Gators. They shot 50 percent from beyond the arch and outscored Zillah 26-16 to take a 39-34 halftime lead.

Zillah trailed 56-49 at the end of the third period. They were down by as many as 11 points with 6:09 remaining, before the Lady Leopards made their fourth quarter push, but time ran out on the comeback.

The Lady Leopards were led by Brynn Widner with 26, Callie Delp had 14 and EmmaLee Nishi added 10.
