RUN BLOCK — Sophomore Viking Andrez Zavala looks to make a tackle at the 50-yard line against Senior Jaguar Davian Iniguez.

GRANGER — Mabton Vikings (0-2,2-2) 2B Eastern Washington conference, struggled to answer their Tri-cities prep (3-0,4-0) conference game in 48-14 loss at Granger High School.

The Vikings couldn’t gain momentum after the Jaguars punched in 20 points in the first quarter.

“We basically let them stay on their side of the field. Probably around the 30 the entire first quarter.” Head coach Pat Zavala described.

The Vikings first snap resulted in a turnover from miscommunication on the snap which lost 25 yards.

Tri-cities ran in their first three TD’s to lead 20-0 in the first quarter.

The Vikings answered back in the second, with a 17-yard pass to senior Armando Morales and a Quarterback run from sophomore Andrez Zavala.

Tri-Cities scored a TD in the last two-minutes of the first half and increased their lead 27-14 at halftime.

Zavala suffered a hamstring off a bad snap. His injury is still to be determined, he hurt it against his previous game against Brewster.

Mabton will face off their next conference game against Dayton Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m.
