PLYMOUTH — In the last two days, McNary Dam has posted season high numbers of Chinook salmon heading upstream on the Columbia River.

According to new statistics released this morning, 14,964 Chinook cross the dam yesterday and 13,913 on Sunday. That’s more than 10 percent of the total 267,759 Chinook counted at the dam during 2016/

While the run is gaining steam at McNary, few salmon are being reported higher up the main stem of the Columbia River.

Priest Rapids and Wanapum dams did not count any Chinook during the last two days.

Rock Island Dam near Wenatchee counted 201 on Sunday.
