Defeating the Odessa Tigers and Northport Mustangs during their district games on Tuesday, May 9 have guaranteed the Sunnyside Christian Knights Baseball team a spot in the state tournament.
The Knights won their first game against Odessa to a score of 14-4 later winning their second game against Northport to a score of 14-2
Stats for game one are Rykker Schilperoot pitching for six innings giving up five hits, string out four with one walk. On offense Buddy Smeenk was 3-3, Dash Bosma was 1-2 with a one run batted in (RBI) and Sawyer Jansen was 1-3 with a double and three RBI.
Stats for Game two are Sawyer Jansen pitching for five innings giving up three hits and striking out five with four walks. On offense Rykker Schilperoort was 2-3 with a double and one RBI, Isaac DeBoer was 2-4, Dash Bosma was 2-3 with two RBI, Cole Wagenaar was 1-3 with a double and three RBI, Clayton Smeenk was 2-3 with a double and one RBI, Adien Andringa was 3-3 with an RBI, and Jack Bosma was 2-3 with three RBI.
The Christian Knights qualified for the State competition, they will be facing the Riverside Christian Crusaders for their first game on Saturday, May 20.
