ZILLAH — The Zillah Leopards boys’ basketball team had a strong finish to their season finishing the season in fifth place for the 1A state championship.
Zillah had a strong start in the tournament taking an initial 25 point win against the Seattle Academy Cardinals during their opening round at a score of 80-55.
Zillah fell behind in their quarterfinal round against the Lyden Christian Lyncs at a score of 58-45 sending them to fight for the fifth place title.
After a win against the Freeman Scotties with a score of 69-57, the Leopards were up against the Overlake Owls for the fifth place title.
Zillah gained a major advantage during the first quarter with them leading by 16 points, though Overlake attempted to stop Zillah from pulling ahead they were unable to overtake their lead.
Zillah took home fifth place after defeating Overlake with a 19 point advantage at a score of 77-58.
